Editorial policy: how this site stays honest

This site sets the record straight about boarding school and argues that it deserves a look. These are the rules that keep that argument honest.

Facts

Figures come from primary or named sources and carry the year they apply to. Much of the best-known research on boarding outcomes is commissioned by the boarding schools' own association and is self-reported, and independent studies that control for family background find smaller differences. Articles say so where it matters.

Trade-offs

Every article names who its point does not apply to, or what the cost is.

Examples and quotes

Short quotes from books, articles and interviews are attributed and linked. No invented person is presented as real; an illustrative example is labeled as one.

Schools and money

No school pays to be mentioned, and articles do not name or promote specific schools. Schools appear only in factual context, such as a closure or a published policy, with a source. The author works at a boarding school; that is stated on the about page. The site carries no advertising, affiliate links or sponsored posts.
